On top of the world

The weather forecast was totally wrong and we had sunshine all day. Quite humid but there was a breeze and cool in the shade.

We went up to Cromarty, bought a pizza and a cup of tea and drove to the top of the South Sutor and sat on the bench watching the birds and a couple of dolphins in the distance. You get a good view across to the North Sutor and you can clearly see the war defences dotted along the shore and further up.

I walked to a higher point to get this shot which looks down on Cromarty and the Firth busy with rigs and you can see the Ecoventure boat which takes people out to see the dolphins and other wildlife heading back to the harbour.

We went down to the medieval dig to see how they were progressing and will return for a tour later in the month. During the storms of 2012-2013 a medieval archaeology site to the East of the town was revealed. Walls have been revealed and although at the moment it is unsure if the buildings are for domestic or industrial use it is leaning towards industrial.

Enjoyed watching the end of the golf and the highlights of the German Grand prix.

Just seen a lovely deer in the field, hope it comes back tomorrow.
