Creosote

From Scotland with Love is a moving documentary released this week. The film has no narration or interviews, just a series of dated scenes of grimy dockers, agricultural workers, migrants and political activists, grubby miners, and shiny young lads and lasses out on the town. It's accompanied by a wonderfully poetic soundtrack from King Creosote.

The film's release coincides with the opening of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this week. If the Scottish team uniforms are anything to go by, the documentary will be a far more fitting tribute to Scotland than whatever tartan kitsch is planned for the opening ceremony.

Here's a taster of the film.

Later, Paul came over to investigate why I was taking a photo of an old garage door. I struggled to explain, and started wondering myself. We both ended up agreeing the door would look much better if he stood in front of it. Cunning, I am.
