Swanage's Edwardian Pier...

Tuesday 15th July

Pier fully restored, gorgeously sunny summer's afternoon - and empty!

And yes, 80p.

Perhaps that last bit stops the hoards in their tracks and not to venture onto this delightful old, fully restored and elegant old Pier.

Yet, the comparatively inelegant, largely concrete Bournemouth Pier is a pound to walk on...

A pity I couldn't see Swanage and its Pier at dusk, when the lights come on. But buses there and back are few and far between and take absolutely ages - 2.5 hours EACH way to Salisbury - and the last is 6pm.

HUGE thanks for all the birthday wishes for yesterday - all much appreciated! Unfortunately, my brother and father could not make it to the vintage car rally and it would probably have been too hot for father anyway.

Will try to catch up with some of your lovely Journals today.
