Knitted Tree

Knitted trees are becoming popular in Rotorua – this is the second tree to be decorated – just a few metres from where I work and was completed yesterday.
Keen knitters use metres of colourful acrylic yarn and cover the limbs of a tree, and is called the Yarnbomb Tree Project.

A recent newspaper article said that these type of installations copied similar yarnbomb, or guerilla art, projects in Europe and United States in which buildings, vehicles and trees were wrapped in various material.

Hopefully it will attract a lot of interest.
