Seal Pup

Early this morning I went done to Eyemouth Harbour just as some fishing boats were bringing in their morning catch.

One of the boats was loaded with langoustine and the gulls were going crazy. It was like a scene from the Birds. The fishermen said they are like sea rats. It must be hell for the fishermen having to deal with the gulls on a daily basis.

Scotland has an abundance of meat, game, fish and seafood is internationally acclaimed as among the best in the world. Over 5,000 fishermen and 2,000 fishing boats work the Scottish coastline and islands.

Nearly 200 shellfish farming companies are based in Scotland. Scotland lands about one third of the world's langoustine market and is recognised as leading the way through its responsible, sustainable fishing methods.

We had an unbelievable seafood platter last night.

While I was taking some shots of the gulls a seal family appeared in the harbour. The gulls seemed to be attracted to them as well, as they were disturbing the flounders in the sand. I managed to get this shot of the seal pup when it surfaced.
