Tewdrig

Visited Tintern Old Station today for a walk. This is one of the sculptures there - it is of King Tewdrig who was a 6th century King of Gwent. He lived as a hermit in the area and was wounded in a battle with the Saxons. Legend has it that he was to be buried on Flatholm Island off the coast but when they reached Mathern, near Chepstow, a fountain sprang up and he was buried there.
