Rue Victor Hugo, Limoux

Early start to beat Le Tour. Just managed it as the ring road ground to a halt for a few hours round Carcassone. Down south to the Niaux caves near Tarascon in the Pyrenees. An amazing sight. No photos allowed for conservation reasons, but I found it moving to see arguably an example of the birth of art in these cave drawings created over 15,000 years ago almost a kilometre underground. Our really lovely and enthusiastic guide who spends a lot of time guiding small groups in the caves had a very pale face and slightly protruding eyes my precious... Back to Limoux for coffee and a glance round the market. Last full day tomorrow. For the very dedicated a few more here.
