Tommy's staying

Back home in Seaham, EdiSteve, my Dad and I visited 1101, the sculpture by Ray Lonsdale which shows a British soldier in the first minute of peace on 11 November 1918. It was meant to be a three-month loan, but Seaham folk liked 'Tommy' so much they've raised £70,000 to ensure he stays.

A nice touch is that he's positioned on the harbour front so as to be looking at the war memorial. He's an impressive nine feet tall and just superb. Well done Seaham!
