Fresh a s a butter fly

This is just a green veined white, but it must have just emerged from its chrysalis.
I have never seen one so yellow and fresh looking. It doesn't seem to have a head though....
The buddleia this year is so fat and fragrant that the butterflies just cannot resist burying themselves in it.
Our old dog Merlin had to stay home this afternoon as the temperature reached 28C, while I went to do my butterfly transect at Whitbarrow.
The only ones able to fly in this heat were the silver washed fritillaries, gliding about on their enormous wings like they were somewhere in a French woodland.
Not bad for chilly old Cumbria!
