#Edgerton Cemetery

Another busy day starting with a site visit in Huddersfield at 08:00 am followed by a meeting at Oakwell Hall, Birstall. Back to the office in Huddersfield, then out for a lovely Lebanese lunch with Kay aka Musekal and Julia.

An equally busy afternoon before heading home for an hour in the evening sunshine.

I took this photo at Edgerton Cemetery this evening. Opened in 1856 it's Huddersfield's main cemetery.

The cemetery has a wide style of monuments - one chap here proudly proclaims he's a pork butcher. The cemetery is arranged into nine different areas according to the fees paid for the burial plots. The most expensive area leads down from the gateway to the chapel. . If you were much poorer you would be buried over there in the corner where nobody ever came.

This monument, now covered in ivy stalks must have cost an arm and a leg.
