Push It

Today I caught a shot of one of the more bizarre aircraft based at Prestwick, a Burt Rutan LongEZ. It is basically a kit air craft which first flew in June 1979.

It has some impressive statistics, capable of 27,000 feet and a range of 2,010 miles at a cruise speed of 144mph.

The designer, Burt Rutan is famous for winning the Ansari X Prize with his Space Ship One design which became the first privately built aircraft to reach space.

Rutan’s company, Scaled Composites, is now working with Richard Branson to develop Space Ship Two which will be the first aircraft capable of taking tourists into space. Holidays in the med are soon to become so last year.
