Mini Crab

We found hundreds of these tiny crabs (on average only one centimetre across) scuttling en masse out of the stones of the beach and across the mud towards the water. Not sure whether this is a hatching or something else. Wikipedia says that crabs lay their eggs in the water, not on the beach.
