A big loco!
We are currently staying in Glen in the White Mountains in New Hampshire After a very, very hearty breakfast we hiked to the Ripley Falls. It was very uphill and at 95 degrees F a tad warmer than we are used too! Well worth the effort though.
Later in the day we found the Conway Scenic Train parked at the old Victorian station whilst the passengers indulged in a doubtless hearty lunch at the nearby lodge. The area was a popular holiday destination in Victorian times, as indeed it still is, and was well served by the railway and by some fine old hotels.
On Friday we plan to take the old cog railway built in 1869 to the top of Mount Washington. Meanwhile, we are enjoying a humongous thunder storm.
