CG2014: Day One

I decided in going to use Blip to try to capture some of my Commonwealth Games experience over the next 11 days. So here we go... Day One!

It had to be our absolutely amazing installation at the Festival 2014 Live Site at Glasgow Green. Just fabulous - where on glorious first day we had over 1,100 people come in to make wildflower seedballs, write their Legacy Wish for Scotland and then tie them to either our Legacy Trees, the fence or on the "kilt" of our awesome 9ft tall iron Highlander - you can just make him out in this shot.

What an incredible day - chatting to children, young people and adults from all over the world about their wishes - and everyone just loved the plan of the seedballs being scattered across Scotland after the games to create native wildflower meadows in "vacant" or "stalled" spaces.

We could not have wished for a more perfect opening day - and huge credit to our exceptional team of staff and volunteers who have put their hearts and souls (as well as some blood, sweat and tears I'm sure!) into making it all happen.

I'm just so proud of all of them - all that work and preparation has paid off big style!
