BAE Guayas

This morning a sailing vessel passed our location. We had to pick up anchor anyway and move over to the Hermod to transfer our fuel, so we decided to warm our engines first with a small detour. We came alongside the vessel which appeared to be the Ecuadoran Navy Sail Training Ship Guayas, a three mast barque. You might think this is a so called Tall Ship from vintage age, but that is not so. This one is built in 1976, has 35 officers, 85 sailors and 80 cadets on board. It is a rather small ship, so it must be pretty crowded below deck. It was a pity she did not displayed all of her 1400 square meter of sails. But nevertheless; it is much better than the ugly ship on the horizon.
