Wet sandy dogs and scruffy kids welcome

"When I woke up this morning
You were on my mind"
Crispian St Peters : You Were On My Mind

We head for the beaches today! K2 and R are coming from London and we're heading for Manorbier for a couple of days. Weather forecast is hot and sunny, although by lunchtime the cloud has moved in.

Manage to get the grass cut in the back, K2 is later than planned so it gives me some time to do a bit of long overdue gardening.

Early afternoon and they arrive; light lunch , transfer the bags into K's car and we're away. We miss the rush hour traffic around Cardiff and it's a straightforward two hours to Tenby, where we park up for a wander around the town. Plenty going on still, although the beaches have been all but deserted by the time we arrive after 6pm.

Down to the beach for a paddle in the waves, then around the harbour and up the cobbled hill past the arches set into the wall that supports Penniless Cove Hill. The Stowaway, a little café/snack and ice-cream place, is starting to close up, a lot of others have already done so. We are attracted by the sign outside - "Wet sandy dogs and scruffy kids welcome", a must for a Blip. The owner, Crispin, is friendly and welcoming when we explain what we're up to - photographing the shopfront. So friendly that we decide to buy ice-creams from him.

A wander onto the top of the hill where a statue of Prince Albert surveys the sweep of the town along the cliff top, watched by the keen eye of a young kestrel perched on a nearby lamp standard.

It's getting late and time to head for Danny and Janes Chippie van at Penally for our sophisticated chip supper back at the caravan.
