It's a Journey....

Dogs on Parade

We did a bit of urban touring this evening in NE Minneapolis. After stopping in Nye's Polonaise for a drink we came out to find a Dog Parade passing by. There had to have been over 200 dogs and their owners out for a stroll. Dogs and people of all shapes and sizes. Some had costumes. Fairy wings on a German Shepherd? How embarrassing!

Our next stop was a small neighborhood corner bar, Shaw's Bar & Grill. A music theme here, with vinyl records, old instruments and concert posters on the walls. There was a jazz/blues band setting up. More about Shaw's in a minute.

The reason we had been killing time in Minneapolis was because we were meeting Laura and Mustafa at the Crescent Moon for dinner. We were invited to join them at a gathering of Muslims for an amazing buffet of food as their fast was broken at sunset. The buffet was in an upstairs hall that was elaborately decorated in a Middle Eastern décor. We would have loved to take pictures here, but since we were pretty much the only white people in the room, that might have been a bit inappropriate. We felt very welcomed and comfortable here and had a delicious meal. Mustafa enjoyed sharing this custom with us.

We decided to stop back at Shaw's on our way home to hear some music and, of course, so Don could get some band photos. At first the music was quite good and enjoyable. Then they brought up a guy with a "Jimmy Hendrix" guitar. Much too loud for this girl's ears and he really wasn't very good. Time to head home with ringing ears!
