Life's Too Short

It was another hot, clear, still and sunny day. Blue skies - Cumulus clouds beginning to form by late afternoon. It's a long time since I just looked at the sky watching the shapes of the clouds - seeing imaginary animals and faces. I watched a large bird, probably a buzzard, circle overhead, rising on a thermal and eventually becoming just a dot in the distant sky.

It was the sort of afternoon to sit back and enjoy life.

Butterflies - there were lots and lots. Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Comma, Peacock and a number of Whites.

I reckon this one is a Gatekeeper.

Life's too short - more so for the Gatekeeper. Most adult butterflies live for about a month, but the smaller varieties sometimes only manage a week!
