Quintessential contradiction

I watched St. Oliver Plunkett's (one of our three GAA clubs in the parish!) win over Clonakilty in a replay in the Junior A Football championship at Rossmore this eve.
There was something quintessentially Irish about the scene: a game of football in the shadow of the local church and Celtic-Tiger era houses on a beautiful summers evening — but most of the spectators stayed sitting in their cars!
We just can't get used to this really summery weather.
