Life in Newburgh on Ythan

A visit to the Plimouth Plantation

We are now arrived in Cape Cod. On our way down we stopped off at the Plimouth Plantation, a reconstruction of the settlement created by the Pilgrim Fathers after arriving on the Mayflower.

The site was extremely interesting and made special by the inhabitants in period costume. They were quite brilliant, with very authentic Dutch and regional English accents and they never for one moment stepped out of character. They conversed fluently and in great detail about their lives as seventeenth century settlers and the problems that they were facing. We were greatly impressed!

We are now off for a good celebratory dinner - we were wed 46 years ago today!
