Fence to nowhere

Out looking for a highway or byway photo ( or a bird of course) and this fence to nowhere caught my eye. There was a lone sandpiper that might have needed fencing in - not.
In an area called the Raumanukas or locally known as the Kumaras. Maori grew kumara or sweet potato in the sandy soils.
