Cottage garden visit

There was heavy rain as I walked to the coach pick-up for our WI outing this morning. Everybody was squeezed into the bus shelter as the rain poured down, waiting for our coach. Luckily we had very little rain after that and we were able to enjoy our two centre trip.
Our first port of call was a cottage garden, not pristine but full of interesting plants. The owner was keen to share her knowledge and encouraged us to explore all the little pathways. We were served coffee and cake and there were plants for sale.
We moved on the the lovely Arts and Crafts house Standen near East Grinstead. After a typical National Trust lunch in the converted barn, we toured the gorgeous but homely Standen house. If you like William Morris, you would love Standen.
