Dresden

I spent the afternoon in beautiful Dresden before hopping on a train back to Freiburg for the last leg of my journey. This is the Dresden's Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, which managed to survive the architectural obliteration of WWII - unlike many of its neighbours. The toll was taken by war's end however, and it collapsed not long afterwards. It has since been beautifully restored; the only telltale sign is the rather distinct difference between the old (dark) and new (light) stone. Pre WWII ruins lie half-buried, half-preserved in the foreground.
