Anatole's blips

The English school of Falconry

I could fill a whole year of blipping with photographs from this place quite easily. 300 birds and most of them taken out daily for 'exercise' on the wing.

Whilst it is great to see them up close, I always feel rather disapproving of caged birds, particularly large raptors kept in aviaries where they are never able to fly out free in the open. Whilst these are still captive birds, they are let out on a 'supervised' basis to get some hunting time and they certainly do enjoy it. There may be a plentiful supply of treats and rewards, but they also do like to just power off and fly round for the hell of it. Each has a personality and quickly get to know the routine, acting up as only living things can, pushing their luck and misbehaving (slightly) where possible.
