Glesga 2014

It doesn't get much more Glesga than The Barras.

After being stuffed into a Scotrail train like squashed Tunnock's Teacakes this morning, Euan and I felt proper weegie down the East End watching the Games' cycling time trials speed by. We stopped off across from the famous Barrowland ballroom (and in front of an adult entertainment shop; Toys • DVDs • Poppers • Lingerie • Magazines) where there was loads of support shown for all the riders, but just a smidgen bit extra loud a roar preceding David Millar here as he whizzed by his home crowd. We then made our way down to Glasgow Green with the crowds to see them nearer the finish line, with Millar finishing eighth.

After a good feed, a wander around and a go on the big wheel we settled down to listen to and watch a live performance of King Creosote's score that accompanies the film 'From Scotland With Love'. Even the impeccably timed Scottish rain didn't chase away the crowds for this. Fantastic it was, a historical future classic in the making, though not sure it was quite Euan's cup of Irn Bru.

Greggs sausage rolls, Glasgow patter, world class sporting events, roasted hog and chips, free concert, scrum at Queen Street station for the, thankfully, much quieter train back home; belter of a day, just me and the wee man.
