Axolotl

A new artist lead gallery space in Liverpool at Model in Wood Street. For all of Liverpool's creative output, there are surprisingly few places like this and this is a short term experiment to see whether it can work. I wish them all the good fortune they deserve, but ... well, we'll see.

The axolotl is one of the few creatures known to have devolved rather than evolved. An amphibian that never leaves the sea and never appears to grow old - it looks like a juvenile for its whole life. It has regressed back to water. It's an interesting premise on which to base a show, but the somewhat disparate pieces on offer didn't really deliver a cohesive sense of what the artspeak in the gallery sheets was trying to convey.

I did go and see Mowgli. Bloody hell, there's a lot of work to do. The kitchen floor is like a skating rink with all the grease on it and there are tripping hazards everywhere. There will probably be a couple of shots on facebook later.
