It's all in the details

Harvest time

Dug up my garlic bulbs today.

They were nice and large but not quite as big as last year, and there were fewer of them, too. Beginner's luck last year, I guess.

This time, I removed the bulbils growing above ground from all but two plants, and the two with bulbils produced significantly smaller bulbs than the other ones.

The experiment with the bulbils (you should basically be able to grow garlic with only one clove from those, and then use these for growing regular garlic the following year) wasn't particularly successful, either, so definitely no bulbils from now on!
