Shunting

After the last visitors have left the Steam Railway there is still work to be done before we can all go home. Each compartment of the train is thoroughly cleaned and swept and the engine crew have to re-coal the tender and prepare the engines for the following days operations.

Sometimes as tonight if there is a special event over the weekend the carriages have to be shunted around to assemble the trains in the right order so no time is lost the following day. Here the diesel engine is being put to work on shunting duties. That isn't steam from a steam engine but smoke from the diesel's chimney.
