Chook

(Zero) Blast Off!

Hanging up my night shift shoes* after a night that was busy squared. Premature deliveries, recannulated almost every baby in the nursery, and admissions galore...

I've got no more night shifts.
I've got no more night shifts.
Doo doo doo doo doo do!

Ever.

Will still have to do on call in my new job, and will get called in every now and then overnight, but it'll be so much better than eighty long and tough hours of night shift in a week**.

You little ripper***.

And, only one more shift left until new job starts. Other (different) celebrations to follow there.

Off to un-work-lag for the last time. Will wake up to 5-and-a-half days off. A lot of organising to do this week in anticipation of the new medical year, but there'll be some time for chilling out too. Might get away for a couple of days, have people to catch up with, books to read, walks and rides to go on, life to live, laps to swim, beers to drink, hair to cut, and there's season eight of Family Guy and season one of Dexter (which I'm told is excellent) out in the lounge room waiting to be watched.

How in the world is it February already?

BIG this one up.

*Very smelly night shift shoes, I might add.
**Akin to at least a 100 hour day shift week, with an extra helping of exhaustion, a side serve of demoralisation and a complete inability to do anything sociable or fun. Not to mention the effect on partners...
***Just a little bit excited. Felt like this day would never come...
