But, then again . . . . .

Boys.

It was a long hot ride today to Blackridge in West Lothian and, at lunch, two of the more junior members of our group decided to use the amenities; I’m surprised that the equipment held up under the strain.

On the way back, we stopped at Linlithgow for ice-cream, and again at South Queensferry for a pint and a bun. I wasn’t aware of the prices being particularly high but, when we went to the bar to pay, one of our number collapsed in a heap on the floor. It turned out alright, he did have enough money to pay once he had recovered his senses and we phoned his wife to come out and collect him; her comment was along the lines of, “Not again!”
We kept him company until she arrived and we thanked the helpful staff by getting another round in.

Note: As far as we can tell, he had not been drinking enough and the heat had been too much for him; a phone call later in the evening confirmed that he was o.k. and was going to take it easy for a few days under the supervision of his good lady.
