Tettenhall Old Bridge over the canal

Took a walk along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal and came across this canal bridge which is an English Heritage listed building. It was built in the 1770s and widened to the south some time before 1820. The bridge carried the main Holyhead road until it was re-routed by Thomas Telford in the 1820s. Given the cracks visible on the other side of the bridge I can see why they have placed weight restrictions on it.

On another note we are still waiting for house exchange to take place. Its taking such a time. We will probably get contacted when we are away in London later this week. We always seem to get important calls when we are away. We were at the top of the Wrekin (when price negotiations took place), in Romsey (where we were told over a bad mobile connection of the results of the buyer's surveyor's report).
