A Day To Look Forward To

Day 199 of 365. Today was a day I'd been looking forward to for ages. Me and my brother both had the day off as we managed to get tickets to see Chvrches at Somerset House. I love the summer concerts at Somerset House as they are a very relaxed way to enjoy superb music in beautiful surroundings while consuming a few beers - what's not to like!
We started the day off by catching the train up to London and then heading straight to this pub (today's shot is the view from the outdoor area) in Victoria called the Phoenix. It's a great pub, probably Victorian, whose surroundings have obviously changed dramatically over the years. We intended to stay for just a couple of beers but ended up ordering food as well - it was great just to wend away the afternoon sitting, eating, chatting and having a laugh.
Our hotel was right next to Charing Cross station - from the outside I wasn't overwhelmed but inside it was beautiful, quiet (!) and with really friendly, efficient staff.
The concert was fantastic and the weather perfect. Only a couple of things annoyed me - people talking through the whole concert and the inevitable use of mobile phones and tablets to take endless photographs rather than just enjoy the concert. The nadir of this was people taking bloody selfies so that they could be displayed in all their glory on giant screens either side of the stage - so moronic and so boring!
