Richard Coppard 1918

I randomly took this photo (whilst looking into family history) and am posting today because of the commemoration of the start of WW1.

There were many graves in disrepair and topsy turvey. I noticed a row of pristine white headstones with the grass around them mown, I picked my way through the graves, careful not to "step" on anyone so could reach them. As I suspected, they were (Canadian) war graves 1918. I took note of one name, Richard Coppard and have just googled him.

Much information about Richard became available to me. A letter from a nurse at "Bushing" park to his mum is moving. I am so soppy. All these years later, I am remembering him and have tears for his mum...
