100 years today

Over in Newton Mearns this afternoon after work, where I blipped the war memorial, recently refurbished for the World War One Commemorations.

World War One started 100 years ago today at 11pm, when Britain declared war on Germany following their invasion of Belgium.

The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was over 37 million.

This was the war that would be over by Christmas, and the war to end all wars.

I wonder if we will ever learn.
