Under Tow

The Fair Isle ferry Good Shepherd IV with 15 people on board broke down this morning just south of Sumburgh. The Lerwick Lifeboat was called out and reached the scene about 50 minutes after leaving Lerwick and took the converted fishing boat under tow to its normal berth at Grutness.

As they approached the pier the Good Shepherd was tied to the lifeboat so that it could be berthed safely.

Lucky that the weather was again fine as that stretch of water is rough at the best of times with a fast moving tide.

Lifeboat back on station after just over 3 hours at sea.
