Bamberg and the river Regnitz

We camped near Bamberg the previous evening and went into the city in the morning for a look around. The centre is a World Heritage area and it is absolutely lovely. The town is in Franconia in northern Bavaria and is built around the river Regnitz. There are masses of half timbered houses and churches built on the many hills. The most famous view is of the Rathaus, built on an island in the river, but I thought this view of the river equally lovely. It was hot again and we had our first rain for ages as we drove south towards Nürnberg. It remain showery all the way to Bad Reichenhall, where we camped. However the evening was fine and warm, so we ate outside at a Gasthof. It then rained most of the night. Odd weather.
