Forty nine search lights shine up into the sky from Victoria Tower Gardens to commemorate the beginning of WW1 a hundred years ago.
If you are in London you should be able to see the beam of light if you look toward Westminster.

First appearing as the culmination of LIGHTS OUT on 4 August 2014, spectra's monumental beams of light punctuate the London sky from dusk until dawn for seven nights from their source in Victoria Tower Gardens."
