Mystery triffid?

I thought this was a globe artichoke but now it's flowering I don't know what it is. Any suggestions?

Another hot day today. I foolishly spent a lot of it trying to clear ivy. I made considerable progress but there's a long way to go yet. And it was another day to appreciate the outside shower.
