Libby Clegg lap of honour

Libby Clegg won Scotland's first athletics gold medal since 1994 when she won the Women's T12 (athletes with a visual impairment) 100 metres at Hampden. I was there, and the place went absolutely wild.

One of the great legacies of the 2012 London Olympics is the respect given to, and pride taken in the achievements of, athletes who compete in para-sport. At the Commonwealth Games (a much smaller event than the Olympics of course), para-sport events are integrated into the main programme and it was wonderful to see these athletes competing on the same evening as, for example, the women's and men's 100 metres final.

This photo shows Libby and her guide Mikail Huggins taking a lap of honour after her win. One of my Commonwealth Games highlights.
