Mysterious Silbury

Neolithic Silbury hill is a dominant feature of the local landscape. Three excavations in 1776, 1848 and 1968 have yielded few answers but a profound respect for the building skills of prehistoric man and the knowledge that the first turves were dug in August, nearly 5000 years ago. (The bodies of ants found present under the huge weight of chalk provide this evidence).

A quiet day for me, still working on post-op recovery...and missing Harry. (He returns on Tuesday evening).
