Glasshopper!!
It's not a glasshopper at all (or even a grasshopper) but it was miraculously attached to my patio window this afternoon.
I did some research and I think that it's a female Roesel's Bush-cricket. The horn shaped organ at the back, is the ovipositor, used to lay eggs. Apparently, due to climate change, they are spreading further North and West. Fifty years ago, they were found only along the South coast and so I felt very privileged to see one in my Oxfordshire garden.
I only had my mobile phone on me, as I was on my way out and when I got back, it had gone. Hope a bird didn't eat it!!
Try viewing large. This is straight from the phone. No enhancements at all, so I don't know why she's so shiny.
