Threave Castle

A day out visiting local smoke houses, Threave Castle and watching an Osprey family.

The journey across the River Dee by boat to the Island where Threave Castle stands shows why it was chosen as a defensive site. The river was several feet higher when the castle was built in the 13th century than it is today making it particularly difficult to negotiate.
