On the plate next to me

is now a nectarine stone.

I bought the plate for 50p in a charity shop at Mornington Crescent. It's French.

(Sometimes you don't need to go far for a blip.)


Thanks to the interest shown I have found out something about these natural history plates: older than I thought (around the turn of the 19/20thC.) and produced at the old china manufacturing town of Sarreguemines in the Moselle. I'll be on the look out for more so let me know if you see any (cheap!)
The history of the ceramics factory is itself extremely interesting. Started in revolutionary times (1760) it survived two world wars and was taken over by the workers in 2002, sadly closing in 2007.
