Getting new clothes

In a similar pose to my little sparrow, this is a juvenile starling, just beginning to get its adult plumage with the first spots. It will soon be leaving us for the winter and maybe will be back next year to start its own family. Quite nice in large.

A day of heavy showers and thunder - the highest rain rate according to our weather station was 121 mm per hour, and it had a leaf in it at the time too, so it was probably more. Fortunately it was a very short storm.

It is our granddaughter's 8th birthday today so we went over for her birthday tea (fish and chip supper and cake). It seems like yesterday that she was toddling around - now she is a real young-lady (most of the time - she gives her brother as good as she gets!)
