Road to nowhere?

I've measured a rather pleasant 10 mile road race this morning.

It was made all the more pleasant by the fact the threatened thunderstorms did not materialise so it was a lovely dry ride with great views across the Irish Sea.

These steps provide access to and from the sea wall and promenade.

However, you need to be on the steps to actually see where they lead to.

To all intents and purposes they could be leading nowhere.
