One hundred years ago today Britain declared war on Germany and the Great War, later called the First World War, began. To commemorate this centenary across the country we were encouraged to turn our lights out between 10pm and 11pm. This was extra poignant for me as I'm currently prompt for the Knutsford Little Theatre's production of "My Boy Jack" - a play set during the time of the First World War.

Our rehearsal finished dead on 10pm, when we all adjourned to the theatre bar and sat in the candlelight for the full hour.
