RoseWarrior's Journey

Arbutus Blossoms

They are out in profusion this year - oddly pretty but this all means that the "Arbutus Rain" is also going to be messy.
If you are unfamiliar with Arbutus (call Madrona in the US) - it is a gorgeous twisty evergreen tree that live only in the dry coastal areas from California to just north of Vancouver BC. It's bark- which is rust red, sheds down to new grow which is vivid green...quite amazing to see. But this shedding (Rain) starts with the blossom in May continues with the leave in July, followed by the bark in August and the berries in November/December (birds flock in for these and get drunk on them.) Heaven help anyone who has them close to their house and or deck - the sweeping is endless.
