Red Admiral Butterfly

An hour before this shot there wasn't a single butterfly around. I went for my coffee after my walk and then came back into the gardens to a different place. It was buzzing with insects. Just that extra hour of temperature rise and a bit more sunshine made all the difference.

Red admiral butterflies have quite gorgeous velvety colouring, the underside of their wings is also quite stunning.

In a couple of hours I'd see many species of butterfly including peacock, tortoiseshell, gatekeeper, whites, a green-veined white and a comma.
