Pilgrimage

Probably the most relaxed day so far. We walked up to a church on the outside of Levoca, on top of a hill wreathed in fog. A beautiful setting, we really just did it because it's a high lieu of pilgrimages apparently! I composed this shot on the way up.
Then we hit the road for Zdiar, a village where we'll be staying, deep in the Tatras mountains. We took advantage of the good weather to go for a trek around the forests. It's interesting, big parts of the woods are destroyed, mainly because of bark beetles eating up the trees but also because of a storm back in 2004 which ravaged the area. Gives some areas a quiet, desolate look. Otherwise, there's so many wild raspberry bushes, they are delicious! I stuffed my face.
Oh and we sat in on Slovakian mass at the local village festival in the evening. Right. Warm gulasch soup with bread after was a blessing, the wind was so cold.
