LAKE BASSENTHWAITE

We chatted to a couple of sailers at breakfast this morning who happened to be sailing a Flying Fifteen in the local regatta on Lake Bassenthwaite. After exchanging sailing stories over breakfast, we headed to Winlatter Pass, stopping to take pictures on the way. Buttermere was our next port of call but we stopped at New House Farm for coffee en route. We met a couple of German bikers there who had been touring the UK for almost three weeks. It was good to exchange biking stories with them. We eventually managed to get parked at the opposite end of Buttermere Lake from the village of Buttermere and then set off on our walk around the Lake. We stopped for ice cream in the village which was about half way. We had a nice drive back, taking in some amazing scenery on the way. Quick shower then off to the Wheatsheaf in Embleton for dinner. This was probably the best value so far this week, so much so that we booked a table for tomorrow. Back to B&B for coffee and backed up photos on to iPad!
